The parties led by Kosovo’s Foreign Minister Behgjet Pacolli and a Deputy Prime Minister Fatmir Limaj agreed on Friday on an election coalition, N1 reported
.Besides the coalition between Kosovo outgoing Prime Minister, Ramush Haradinaj’s Alliance for the Future of Kosovo and the Social-Democratic Party of Kosovo led by Shpend Ahmeti, the Spacial-Democratic Initiative and the Alliance for New Kosovo decided to join forces for early elections expected in October.
Haradinaj initiated an early vote by resigning as premier following a call from the Special Court for Kosovo located in The Hague to give a statement as a suspect for alleged war crimes committed by the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) during the 1998-1999 war against Belgrade police and military in the then Serbia's province.
Pacolli on Friday said that the two parties cooperated well in the Government so far and that “we will do a good job in the next cabinet.”There is a chance that all these parties make a bigger coalition before the elections. It seems there is goodwill, but no deal has yet been made.
Some speculations say that the two largest parties Self-Determination and the Democratic Alliance of Kosovo may join forces in which case they could form a government alone.
However, none of the parties has so far presented their 4-year programme, but all of them are promising fight against corruption and nepotism, new roads and schools.
Kosovo Serbs’ main political organisation Serb List, supported by Belgrade, hasn’t yet said will it take part in the elections.
It is also not clear whether some other Serb political party or alliance will decide to go to the polls.
