Three parties from Serbia’s northern Vojvodina province said on Thursday that they were forming a coalition named Vojvodina Front.
The League of Social Democrats of Vojvodina (LSV), the Vojvodina Party (VP) and Democratic Alliance of Croats in Vojvodina (DSHV) signed an agreement on cooperation through the Vojvodina Front, the LSV said in a press release.
The agreement was signed by party leaders Nenad Canak (LSV), Aleksandar Odzic (VP) and Tomislav Zigmanov (DSHV). Odzic said after the signing that the Vojvodina Front will become a strong political opposition alliance with a dominant role in Vojvodina’s political life while Zigmanov said that his party wants to be a reliable partner in implementing the goals of the Croat community which he said was often on the margins of society in Vojvodina.
Canak is quoted as saying that the coalition could remind people in the rest of Serbia and in Belgrade that civil, supra-national and democratic options have not disappeared and added that some more Vojvodina-based parties will join the coalition for the coming elections.
