ECB reduces ELA ceiling for Greek banks to €50.9bn

Reduction reflects improvement of liquidity in Greece and stabilization of private sector deposits flows.

The Bank of Greece announced that the Governing Council of the ECB did not object to an ELA-ceiling for Greek banks of €50.9 billion, up to and including Thursday, 8 December 2016.

The reduction of by 200 million euros in the ceiling, the statement continues, reflects an improvement of the liquidity situation of Greek banks, amid a reduction of uncertainty and the stabilization of private sector deposits flows.
