General Christopher G. Cavoli, commander of United States European Command, has arrived in Sarajevo on Monday, where he expressed support to the EU military mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina, EUFOR Althea.
The US Embassy in Sarajevo confirmed the official's arrival.
“We warmly welcomed USEUCOM Commander Gen. Christopher G. Cavoli today to Sarajevo. The U.S. resolutely supports BIH. Gen Cavoli expressed support for EUFOR Althea and the mission's reauthorization,” the embassy said.
Cavoli's visit comes on the day when a military exercise that gathered troops from 20 countries starts in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
He paid a visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina last year as well as well, when members of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United States Army organised a demonstration exercise as part of the joint multi-day action “Quick Response 21” at the Manjaca training ground near Banja Luka in the north of the country.
