Dragan Covic, the head of the Croat National Council (HNS BiH), the umbrella organisation of Bosnian Croat political parties, announced that Bosnian Croat parties will participate in the elections in October this year although the country has not adopted changes to its election law.
Covic, who recently wrote to international community officials in BiH complaining about the Central Election Commission (CEC) setting the date for the elections without electoral reform, said that the HNS BiH adopted the decision mainly due to the influence of the international community.
“We agreed today at the HNS session that we are going to the next elections together, aware of these difficulties and aware of the role of the Central Election Commission in the political atmosphere that is being built because we think it could be more harmful if we made a different decision regarding the elections,” Covic said.
