“The two-day agony and crisis we were pushed into by (Kosovo Prime Minister) Albin Kurti shows the extent of this man’s militancy and how dangerous he is,” head of the Serbian Government's Office for Kosovo Petar Petkovic said.
Petkovic told a media conference that Serbs best understand this, and that “Vucic also understands it, who begged the Quint representatives to stop the evil.”
“Last night we were a step away from serious clashes,” said Petkovic, adding that the plan was for the Kosovo special forces to invade the north of Kosovo.
Petkovic said Kurti lied when he accused Belgrade of wanting to destabilize the Western Balkans and added that the barricades were not an end in itself, but the only way for the people to draw attention to the terror and problems they are faced with.
He said that the decision on measures means trampling on agreements and that the US representative noticed well that there is quite a lot of misunderstanding in that decision, adding that it is nowhere written in the agreement that Serbs are to give up their ID cards.
“All Kurti would need to do so we could return to normalization and peace would be to withdraw the decision,” Petkovic said.
He said that he asked the Quint to monitor the situation in the coming period, adding that “we should go back to Brussels to talk and to find a compromise.”
