The Belgrade-backed Kosovo Serb List said on Friday that its officials discussed conditions to normalize Belgrade-Pristina relations with European Union envoy Miroslav Lajcak.
“The forming of the Community of Serb Majority Municipalities (CSM), protection of collective and individual rights of the Serb people are the conditions to normalize relations,” the Serb List said in a statement after the meeting which comes during Lajcak’s two-day visit to Kosovo prior to a visit to Belgrade and meeting between Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti in the North Macedonia city of Ohrid on March 18.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic told a meeting of his Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) top bodies that he doesn’t see what he could talk to EU envoy Lajcak about. “Why are you coming to Belgrade? For us to recognize Kosovo,” he said adding that this won’t happen.
Lajcak met with Kurti, Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani and chief negotiator Besnik Bislimi earlier this week and with officials from several opposition parties in Pristina on Friday.
