Kurti accuses Belgrade of destabilizing Kosovo

November 14, 2023

Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti accused the Serbian authorities of wanting to destabilize Kosovo and take back territory to make up for what it lost in the war.

He told Austria’s ORF TV that Serbia is acting like “little Russia” and does not want peace. “Serbia knows it can’t have all of Kosovo but it wants the north where most illegal structures have been present since the end of the war 24 years ago. Serbia does not want peace, it does not want into NATO and the European Union but it does want to destabilize our country and take territory to make up for the losses in the war,” he said.

Kurti claimed that the Banjska armed incident was caused by “dozens of paramilitary terrorists coming in from Serbia” and recalled that former Kosovo Serb List deputy party leader Milan Radoicic admitted organizing the attack adding that he was often seen sitting next to Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic. “The Serbian President is behind the attack,” he said. According to Kurti, the EU and US should condemn the aggression.

The Kosovo Prime Minister said that the idea of an exchange of territories is not dead but warned that it is a recipe for war and bloodshed. “Kosovo is a republic which remains united,” he said.
