Vucic writes to China’s Xi Jinping over situation in Kosovo

February 6, 2024

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic wrote to Chinese President Xi Jinping to inform him about the situation in Kosovo, but also about the accelerated development of Serbia-China relations.

Vucic presented the letter for Xi Jinping to Chinese Ambassador to Belgrade Li Ming, with whom me had an “excellent meeting,” the Serbian President said in an Instragram post.

“An excellent meeting with the Ambassador of PR China, Li Ming. I presented to him a letter I am sending to President Xi about the situation in Kosovo-Metohija as well as about the accelerated development of our bilateral relations,” wrote Vucic. (Kosovo and Metohija is the official name for what the Serbian authorities consider to be the country’s southern province)

The Serbian President said he thanked the ambassador for a strong and unequivocal reaction by the Chinese Foreign Affairs Ministry following “Pristina’s most recent irresponsible actions that he said were clearly aimed against the Serbs in Kosovo-Metohija.”
