Kosovo: Second attempt to constitute Parliament fails

Today’s (04.08.2017) session to constitute Parliament in Kosovo failed once again due to the absence of the PAN coalition MPs. This coalition won the highest number of MPs in the 11 June  2017 elections.

Enver Hoxhaj of the Democratic Party of Kosovo has requested the election result to be respected and for the PAN coalition to be allowed to propose the speaker of Parliament.

However, he said that PAN coalition may agree not to propose Kadri Veseli for the post of the speaker of Parliament.

Meanwhile, the head of the Democratic League of Kosovo Parliamentary Group, Avdullah Hoti said that there’s still no consensus for the continuation of the constitutive session.

Self Determination’s representative in Parliament, Glauk Konjufca said that PAN is trying to postpone the continuation of the session as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, the interim speaker of the Parliament of Kosovo, Adem Mikullovci has decided to call a meeting next Wednesday with representatives of the parliamentary parties.
