Kosovo parties agree on new government, two ministries for minorities

November 8, 2019

The Self-determination Movement and Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) decided on forming a new government following October 6 elections, and no other coalition talks would be held, Vlosa Osmani, LDK Deputy leader said, the FoNet news agency reported late on Thursday.

Speaking to T7 TV, she added that new cabinet would have 12 ministries two of which were reserved for minorities but that it was still not decided which ones. Osmani said that every minister would have two deputies due to the scope of the job.

Earlier on Thursday, Serb List, the Serb political party supported by Belgrade, which overwhelmingly won the support of the Serbs in the last month’s vote, would not take part in Kosovo’s new government under conditions set by the most likely Prime Minister Albin Kurti.

In an interview with N1, Kurti said he would respect the Constitution and one minister would be a person supported by the Serb List, but would not be a part of a coalition.
