Zorana Mihajlovic, Serbia’s Construction, Traffic and Infrastructure Minister, dismissed allegations about being connected with the apprehending of acting general manager of the national railway infrastructure asset management company 'Serbian Railways Infrastructure' Miroljub Jevtic, who was arrested on Saturday over bribery charges.
“I was not involved in any way and have nothing to do with the charges over which the acting general manager of ‘Serbian Railways Infrastructure’ Miroljub Jevtic was arrested,” the minister said adding that she is disappointed with Jevtic’s behavior and everything he is suspected of.
“I welcome the work of the state bodies towards shedding the light on all the facts related to this case,” said Mihajlovic.
“This shows that Serbia is not the same country it used to be. I expect the competent judicial bodies to do everything that law prescribes, and I will be at their disposal at any moment,” she added.
The State Prosecutor for Organized Crime interrogated Jevtic, following the Saturday arrest.
Blic daily reported that Jevtic has been taking managerial posts in the Railways of Serbia since the 1990s and that he also used to act as Minister Mihajlovic’s advisor. The Railways of Serbia sued him in 2015 over organized crime, the daily also recalled.
Some tabloids also carried that Jevtic directly involved Mihajlovic and her partner in the case.
