Epidemiologist says 203 coronavirus patients hospitalized

Epidemiologist Dr Predrag Kon told Wednesday news conference that 203 people who tested positive for the coronavirus have been hospitalized, adding that the daily media briefing would include data for every major town and city in Serbia.

Kon said that 14 patients are at the Vojvodina Clinical Center, 18 in the Nis Clinical Center and 16 in hospital in Kragujevac. Twelve patients are in the Infectious Diseases Clinic and 131 at the Dragisa Misovic Clinical Hospital Center, 10 at the Pulminary Diseases Clinic in Belgrade and two at the General Hospital in Valjevo.  

Kon said that the Belgrade fairground hall was being prepared for a worst case scenario with up to 10,000 patients with the mildest symptoms while the worst cases would be at the Infectious Diseases Clinic and the Dragisa Misovic hospital. He added that everyone who tests positive with mild symptoms will be ordered to the quarantine.

 A total of 24 patients are on respirators – four each in Novi Sad, Nis and Kragujevac, nine at the Infectious Diseases Clinic, two at the Dragisa Misovic hospital and one at the Pulminary Diseases clinic, Kon said.  

Fellow epidemiologist Darija Kisic Tepavcevic, deputy head of the Batut Public Health Institute in Belgrade, said that 158 coronavirus cases have been registered in the Serbian capital, 40 in Nis, 38 in Valjevo, 21 in Novi Sad, 13 in Cacak, 12 in Kragujevac, 10 each in Krusevac and Cuprija and less than 10 in Kikinda, Vranje, Uzice, Zajesar, Pancevo and Pozarevac while Vrnjacka Banja, Temerin, Sremski Karlovci, Backa Topola, Zrenjanin and Leskovac reported one case each.
