In the first statement after The Hague based Kosovo Specialised Prosecutor Office said the indictments against him and some other officials for war crimes, were ready, Kosovo’s President Hashim Thaci wrote on his Instagram profile that ‘no one can change Kosovo’s history’, the FoNet news agency reported on Friday.
The charges are pending the pre-trial judge approval which may take up to four months.
Radio Free Europe (RFE) reported Thaci was currently in Vienna since Pristina airport was still closed for traffic due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The opening is scheduled for June 28.
Following the indictment, Thaci cancelled the trip to Washington where he was supposed to meet Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vucic upon the invitation by Richard Grenell, the US President Donald Trump’s special envoy for the Belgrade – Pristina dialogue on the normalisation of relations.
